Laurence and Margaret
Andrews started their coin business in Leicester in the early 1970’s, trading
under the name of Laurence Andrews. Airedale Coins was not established until
1978, when the business moved to Bingley in West Yorkshire. Bingley is a market town in the middle of
the Airedale Valley in the Yorkshire Dales, from which the name Airedale was taken . Recently the
name has been shortened to Airedale Co., purely for security reasons, as it is
probably wise not to advertise that packets and parcels may contain valuable
items.
The Business is 100%
Mail Order, and we specialise in giving a highly efficient and competitively
priced service to our clients. We offer a personal service and are always happy
to talk on the telephone to customers about their requirements. We sometimes
visit coin fairs, and may meet clients face to face, but, as a general rule,
all transactions are by mail.
The main business has
tended to focus on new issues, particularly from the UK, but, with this new
website, we intend to increase the number of older British coins in stock.
We are long
established members of both the ANA (American Numismatic Association) and the
BNTA (British Numismatic Trade Association.
Prices are subject to
availability and to price changes, particularly on gold and precious metal
items.

The Royal Shield of Arms Collection
The Coinage of the United Kingdom is changing. The Royal Mint has
produced a set of new designs, which will be launched in April. Since the reign
of Edward III, the Royal Arms has featured on the coinage of almost every
monarch and the new coins incorporate
the shield of the Royal Arms spread over the six coins from the 1p to 50p
uniting them into one design.
